Originally meant as a companion piece to James’s Liquor Cabinet, the Occasional Table acts as the steppingstone for the progression of a nights’ socialities within a room of the home – starting with retrieving drinks from the Liquor Cabinet, to settling at this table to enjoy them. Its light, tapering and curved legs lift the form with a graceful stance, echoing a sense of elegance while still feeling sturdy and grounded. The table’s apron, in rich Granadillo wood, carries the natural edge along its lower line, a subtle nod to the organic origins of the material, while the top’s pale surface draws the eye upward, creating balance between refinement and rawness. Together, these elements suggest both motion and stillness, much like the rhythm of conversation the table is meant to host. Nelson’s Occasional Table becomes not only a resting place for glasses, but a sculptural anchor that invites gathering, continuity, and the quiet intimacy of shared time.
